I was lucky enough to meet Fred a couple of times in his later years. The first, was at the Mountaineers annual dinner. Fred was there to do a slideshow presentation and chat about his local climbing history.
After watching Fred spend about 20 minutes looking for his laser pointer his slideshow was everything I had hoped it to be.
Fred rambled on and on about each side, each summit and each climbing partner he would eventually come to hate at the end of each trip. It was one of the moments I realized I was looking and listening to a piece of history and I didn’t want it to end.
In my opinion, this film about Fred’s life was way overdue, but it’s good to see his story told in a way that future generations can enjoy.
